Short biography:
Alexander the Great acquired great power at a young age. He became king of Macedonia, a province in Northern Greece, upon the death of his father, King Philip II of Macedonia. Alexander was only twenty years old. He quickly set out to create an empire, and he succeeded in conquering many lands including Asia Minor (present-day Turkey), Egypt, India, and Persia. Alexander was extremely ambitious and never felt content unless he was leading an army to conquer a new land. He died of unknown causes when he was only 32 years old. By the time of his death, Alexander had conquered more land than any ruler before him.
